Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a compassionate, community-focused charity providing expert care and support for people living with terminal or life-limiting illnesses across Wigan Borough. With over 35 years of dedicated service, the hospice offers specialist palliative care both at its inpatient unit in Hindley and through outreach teams in patients’ own homes. Committed to dignity, comfort, and quality of life, Wigan and Leigh Hospice works closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure tailored support at every stage. Their vital work is made possible through the generosity of local supporters, fundraising, and volunteers across the community.

This December, we’re bringing you a new festive fundraiser to help you have fun, stay active and raise vital funds for your local hospice!

What do we have to do?

Every pupil – and teachers too! – are invited to put on their favourite festive clothing and jog, skip or run laps around your playground or local park. How far you wish to run is decided by you.

Santa Hats, Christmas Jumpers and T-shirts – whatever makes you feel festive!

Antlers for All!

We know not everyone will have a Christmas Jumper, so we would like to provide every child taking part with some Reindeer Antlers to wear when they take part!

As we are providing the antlers, we would like to encourage all pupils to raise a minimum of £5.00.

We would hate for any child to miss out, but as each set of antlers are £1.00, we need to cover our costs and raise funds for the vital care we provide for our patients and families. With that in mind, please get back in touch with how many antlers your school will need.

The page can be shared via ClassDojo or e-mail to parents to encourage sponsorship donations. We appreciate that some may prefer to bring in cash to the school, but we hope this page will make things easier for you. Many schools chose to do this with our Turn Wigan Purple event to great effect.

As a charity, we need to raise as much as we can in order to fund our outstanding care throughout the Wigan & Leigh borough. It costs the hospice in excess of £18,500 every day to undertake all our essential care, so your support is vital to this success.
